About the Role

IBM is seeking a Database Administrator with DB2 Expertise to join its Software Engineering team in Ahmedabad. This position will focus on managing and optimizing IBM DB2 databases (LUW and/or z/OS), involving installation, configuration, performance tuning, backup/recovery, migration, security, and high availability/disaster recovery operations. You will also work closely with application teams and contribute to technical consulting and process documentation.

Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, and upgrade DB2 LUW/zOS environments.
• Optimize database performance using tools like db2top.
• Implement reliable backup/recovery and data replication/migration strategies.
• Support HA and DR planning and execution.
• Assist developers with SQL optimization, stored procedures, and data modeling.
• Ensure database security through user controls, auditing, and encryption.
• Develop and maintain scripts using Bash, Python, or PowerShell for automation.
• Troubleshoot database and connectivity issues and resolve performance bottlenecks.
• Document system configurations, processes, and support guides.

• Extensive experience with DB2 LUW and/or z/OS administration
• Strong SQL skills and experience with stored procedures
• Knowledge of Linux/Unix/Windows operating systems
• Familiarity with scripting languages: Bash, Python, or PowerShell
• Experience with db2top, IBM Data Server Manager, and backup tools
• Proficiency in database design, data replication, and migration
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Analytical and problem-solving mindset
